Dortmund, October 9, 2009 – Bayer Technology Services GmbH (BTS) today honored the outstanding graduates from the bioengineering and chemical engineering programs, further reinforcing its research and recruiting network with the Technical University of Dortmund. Awards went to biochemical engineer Sonja Hermes and chemical engineer Katrin Sulzbacher, both of whom graduated with a grade point average of 1.1.

Many junior engineers recruited by Bayer Technology Services in recent years graduated from the University of Dortmund, which also collaborates with BTS on numerous research projects. The Technical University of Dortmund, RWTH Aachen University and the Technical University of Karlsruhe are considered the top universities in Germany for bioengineering and chemical engineering.

"Qualified junior staff, particularly in technical and scientific fields, is essential for an innovative company," said BTS Managing Director Achim Noack at the start of the ceremony for roughly 100 newly qualified engineers and their parents, friends and professors in Dortmund. “Bright minds with innovative ideas are the best investment in the future. The professors in the Department of Biochemical and Chemical Engineering at the Technical University of Dortmund are a unique conglomerate of internationally renowned top scientists," remarked Noack, predicting that the graduates will have no problems embarking on successful careers.
