Bayer 04 players take an interactive journey

Leverkusen, August 8, 2017 – In a VIP visit to the Bayer Communication Center, a delegation of players, trainers and officials from Bayer 04 Leverkusen Fußball GmbH exchanged their jerseys for lab coats and undertook an exciting tour of the world of Bayer research. The program encompassed a mix of theory and interesting facts, interactive terminals and hands-on experimentation. Following a tour of the various interactive terminals, 18-year-old midfielder Kai Havertz experienced the problems of old age as he tried to take tablets wearing a special suit which simulates what it’s like to be 80. This demonstrated to the players how aging restricts mobility and dexterity. Trainer Heiko Herrlich used the rare opportunity to extract his own DNA in the Baylab student laboratory.

“Today we learned a lot about the history and areas of activity of a global enterprise,” commented captain Lars Bender. “It has made us particularly aware of the strong bond between our club and Bayer.”

“We all really enjoyed the program,” added Michael Schade, Managing Director of Bayer 04. “It showed us practical responses to societal challenges in the areas of health and nutrition. So that our people can identify with Bayer and Bayer 04, it’s good for them to know what issues the company is working on and how it actually contributes to improving people’s quality of life.” Tongue in cheek Schade then added that Heiko Herrlich had proved he now carries the Bayer 04 gene.

Baykomm - the Bayer Communication Center
The newly redesigned Baykomm uses interactive terminals to enable visitors to discover Bayer and its areas of focus. Digital media and activity stations located in open-plan rooms foster active participation and experimentation. Three special info sections explore the themes of teamwork, the media and corporate identity. Science Boards can be used to access interesting facts and fascinating images relating to Bayer’s key focuses of science and life. In this fun and entertaining way, Baykomm communicates the company’s mission of “Science For A Better Life.” Baykomm is open to the public from Monday through Friday between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
